The "Purple Palace" Project

A new home for the El Pozo and El Pozito Orphanages

Get your small group, company, or neighbors to
"BUILD A BUNK BED"

Join together to provide a bunk bed for the children at El Pozo. Material are about $100 and plans are available in the church office or contact Mark Hawkins. We still need help with the renovating of the building.

We missed the July 1st deadline . . . El Pozo is now paying rent for the "old Buildings" as well as the new one under construction . . . $3,000 per Month!
We need Skilled labor!

The orphanages are directed by CLA's own Tyler and Connie Youngkin, who have spent the last four years rescuing children from the streets of Tijuana, giving them food, shelter, schooling, and a chance to experience the love of Christ. The orphanages are located in the "red light" district of Tijuana where prostitution is legal along with extreme violence, drug addiction, corruption, and crime that runs ramped. Most of the children run the streets at night in the fear of being raped or violated and they are dirty, hungry, confused, and scared for their lives.

The children at the orphanages attend public school, have Bible studies regularly and pray together as a family before each meal. These children who were once depressed, hopeless, and terrified now, by the power of the Holy Spirit, have been restored. They live in renewed peace, confidence, hope, joy, and are now planted in their eternal salvation with Jesus Christ.

Presently, both orphanages have reached maximum capacity and do not have expansion options. Their current locations are not suitable for promoting a safe, stable environment for the children or staff.

But a solution to this problem has been found. An abandoned commercial warehouse has been located in the downtown Tijuana area. Our goal is to convert this building into a facility that is capable of housing both existing orphanages, and allow an additional 50 destitute children to be rescued from the streets. Construction has already begun with the intention of having the facility opened in the summer of 2006. To accomplish this massive project, we will need the help of countless volunteers, materials, and financial support. Anyone wanting to assist in this project is encouraged to contact us for further information and building schedules.
